Dear Families,

My name is Shannon McGowan and I am a Special Educator at Salem Elementary School. This is my first year at Salem and I am very happy to be welcomed to your community! I am currently working with some third, fourth and fifth graders in GEE (general education environment) as well as SEE (special education environment)

I am originally from Burlington, VT where I attended college and where my parents still live. I relocated to West Virginia in June and fell in love with the mountains and community I felt here. I currently live in Bridgeport and in my free time I love to bake, play board games, hike and spend time with my family.

I strongly believe that parental communication is extremely important to being a successful teacher, so I look forward to talking with you all year long.

Feel free to contact me at any time with questions, concerns or to set up a meeting. My email is shannon.mcgowan@k12.wv.us or you can call Salem directly at (304) 326-7180 and ask to speak with me. I’m looking forward to a great school year!
