Hello, my name is Kara Bowles. I began my teaching career in the late eighties….yes, that is a long time ago. I received my Bachelors of Science in Biology and Secondary Education from the University of Charleston. I taught science in Greenbrier County for three years before my husband and I moved to Harrison County in the early nineties. I was blessed to be able to take some time off from teaching to stay at home with our children, Grant (now 21 years old) and Grace (now 19 years old). In the fall of 2010 I went back to teaching, all I planned on doing was substituting, but God had other ideas. I was given an opportunity to take a long term position substituting in a special education classroom. I feel in love with special education and my students. I never wanted to leave that classroom and entered a Multi-Categorical Special Education program with Autism at Fairmont State University in the fall of 2011. I was grateful to be able to continue working in the same classroom while teaching on a permit. Now, I am fully certified in special education and still enjoy being with my students, a wonderful group of therapist and aides. It truly takes a team to deliver high quality education and I am blessed to experience that at Mountaineer Middle.
