Word Study

When helping your child study words, it is important to focus on strategies, as well as practice.  Writing words over and over will help them write the word correct, but in most cases, temporarily.  Focusing on strategies will help them learn.  Each student has a page explaining Word Study homework in their G.O Binder.

The most common question parents ask their child after school is "Did you have fun?"  While fun is important, my hope is that the focus will be on learning and leadership.  Working hard and doing your best brings a satisfaction that far outweighs "fun".  When real learning is happening, fun always follows.

About me...

My name is Ms. Amber Nuzum.  I graduated from Fairmont State College in 1999.  This year begins my 17th year as an elementary educator.  I have taught in a few schools in Harrison County, as well as an elementary school in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  This is my 9th year at NFI and my 10th year teaching 3rd grade.  I love it!  I am a structured educator that believes that kids will rise the level of expectation one has of them, so I always aim high!

Outside of my relationship with God, my family is the most important thing in my life. I have an older sister, a younger brother, two neices, and six nephews.
