My Schedule

Planning - 7:50 am - 8:37

Team Planning - 10:20 - 11:07

Lunch - 12:00 - 12:30

My name is Kelly Maze. I graduated from Fairmont State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Education. I teach 8th grade Developmental Reading. It is my intention to provide a learning environment that is fun and uplifting. Most students do not enjoy reading. I try to choose reading material for which they can relate. It is my goal for each student to leave my class loving something about reading by the end of the school year.

I do not allow gum in my classroom!

Students are asked to dispose of it upon entering.

Gum interferes with reading aloud and can ruin my materials.

My classroom ROCKS rules:

R - Respectful

Use kind and appropriate words and gestures

Follow directions the first time given

Return materials to the designated areas and in its original condition when finished

O - Organized

Sit in assigned seat

Have all materials needed and ready to work

Remove all unnessary papers from student folder

C - Considerate

Raise your hand to be called upon

Hold all conversations and questions until an appropriate time

K - Knowledgeable

Ask questions that pertain to the lesson

S - Safe

Keep all chair and desk legs on the floor

Keep hands, feet and other objects to yourself

Know and follow all school and county rules, policies and procedures

Classwork:

Almost all assignments are completed in class, therefore I do not accept late work

Homework:

Students will rarely have homework. Ample time and assistance is given during class.

Make-up Work:

Students will have one day to make up missed work for each day absent.

For example: absent 1 day = 1 day to make up work

absent 2 days = 2 days to make up work

If a student is absent, it is his or her responsibility to get the work upon their return to school.

Cheating Policy

If a student is caught cheating on homework, quiz, or test, he or she will take a zero for that assignment. I need to see what each individual student understands regarding the content.

Therefore, I expect students to do their own work.

All assignments are required to have a name, date and class period written on the page.

Points will be deducted to for neglecting to provide this information.
