Meeting Summary:
- Review & sign member training form (Heather, Ron, and Danielle)
- Members viewed the LSIC Training PPT.
- Mrs. Trent shared goals: gather feedback, share discipline data, and update on projects.
Discipline Overview:
- Mrs. Trent reported overall satisfaction with student behavior.
- PreK: Miss Misty trains students on behavior in all areas of the school.
- Kindergarten: Increased structure; focus on academics and expectations.
- Teachers invest time in teaching procedures and routines at start of year.
- All grades (PreK–5) use the Second Step program for social-emotional learning.
First 9 Weeks Behavior Data:
- First Grade: Some students need support with self-regulation and rule-following.
- Second Grade: Few students had lunch reflections; respectful choices emphasized.
- Third Grade: Three students lost recess time due to disruptive behavior.
- Fourth Grade: No discipline referrals; all managed in-class.
- Fifth Grade: More referrals in early months; addressed social-emotional needs; used lunch reflections and conferences; one bullying incident addressed with families.
Positive Behavior Data:
- Kindergarten: 100% positive
- First Grade: 97% positive
- Second Grade: 77% positive
- Third Grade: 0% positive
- Fourth Grade: 99% positive
- Fifth Grade: 79% positive
No reteach assigned during 2nd and 3rd 9-weeks; no students in grades 3–5 received 3+ referrals.
Discipline Procedures (Behavior Management Hierarchy):
- Non-verbal reminder
- Verbal reminder
- First infraction + intervention (e.g., chat, seating change, loss of privilege)
- Second infraction + “Think Sheet” + teacher conference and parent contact
- Third infraction + referral form sent to Principal
A “Think Sheet” helps students reflect on behavior, consequences, and improvements. Communication methods include calls, notes, and ClassDojo messages.
Monday Morning Roundup:
- K–5 students attend weekly sessions on social-emotional skills.
- Topics include empathy, kindness, gratitude, self-reflection, and more.
- Bus drivers also share relevant behavioral topics.
School Projects:
- Basketball hoops ordered (adjustable for all ages).
- Received $1,500 grant from Sacred Heart for gym pads.
- Black mats: $95 each. Remaining costs:
- $1,600 for wall pads around electrical outlets
- $2,400 for LONGHORNS printed wall pads (to be installed by HCBOE Maintenance)
- Plan for mural in partnership with high school art program.
- Mr. Cox to assess picnic table repairs.
Safety Concerns:
- Reinstall stop sign removed during concrete walkway construction.
- Install protective case around fire alarm in the gym.
- Recess commonly held outdoors.
- Playground edging needs repair to address drainage issues.
- Drainage concerns also noted on soccer field and football field track.
