Meeting Minutes
Welcome
Mrs. Trent welcomed everyone.Organization & Training
Mrs. Trent reviewed Part D under the Organization Tab on the WVDE website about LSIC. Following LSIC policy:
– Danielle Riley (Kindergarten teacher) was elected Chair.
– Tasha Wilcox (Kindergarten aide) will help set the agenda.
– Mary Ruth Law (Title I teacher) will take the minutes.
Members watched the LSIC Training & Verification video. Suggestions were made for adding members since some will move on when their children transition to middle school.
Members also reviewed Policy 2322 WVDE/Data and Accountability and the West Virginia Balanced Scorecard website.
LSIC will continue reporting concerns, providing suggestions, and reviewing documents on the WVDE site. All members must complete required training, with notification sent to the superintendent once complete.Gym Improvements
Wall mats were installed this summer. Outlets are marked. The large electrical box on the LONGHORNS side needs reinforcement tape to prevent tearing.Picnic Tables
Several tables under the pavilion need water seal treatment. Mr. Cox suggested donating one table to FFA for the butcher’s shop and another to the greenhouse for student use.WVGSA Assessment Results
Math – 3rd: 56%, 4th: 64%, 5th: 69% proficient
ELA – 3rd: 44%, 4th: 64%, 5th: 46% proficient
Strategic Plan Overview
Mrs. Trent explained that the plan includes demographic, socio-economic, assessment, behavior, and attendance data. Three Big Goals: ELA, Math, Behavior.
– Schoolwide expectations are presented at the start of the year.
– PBIS team tracks student behavior.
– Teachers review data in reading, math, and behavior.
– Third Grade Success Act goal: 38.1% (school currently 56.4%).
– Students are grouped for interventions based on BOY testing.
– Math Goal: Maintain 66.7% on grade level (current 66.8%).
Attendance: 94.5% of students attend 90%+ of the school year. Goal to reduce truancy. Reminders about excused notes (within 3 days) and parent notes (5 per semester).
Incentives: Classes earn rewards when spelling ATTENDANCE through daily attendance achievements.Stakeholder Meeting
