Principal’s Report

  • 2026-2027 Balance Scorecard Targets (see attached)- We were the only school in the county to exceed standards in post-secondary achievement. We also exceeded standards for the on-track to graduate section. We will continue to focus on the “attendance” 5-10% target based on chronically absent students. Class of 2027 did not meet standards in math but partially met standards in ELA. We were at 17% in math which ranked us 67th out of 115 in the state.

  • Attendance, Behavior, and Credit Data Reports-

  • Attendance- 16% chronically absent overall at 26 days into school. Our target goal is 5-10% chronically absent. Our overall average attendance is 94.7%

  • Behaviors- 52 behavior incidents in wveis, which is good. Cell phone violations are down, no level 4s. We’ve had 6 vape disciplines to date.

  • Credits- 260 students currently have F’s for the first 6 weeks. We have 18 failing Senior English a core requirement.

  • Academic Updates -Nothing to report

Officer/Committee Reports- No report.

Items to be Discussed

  • Railing along Route 19 to Stydahar Field- all paperwork was submitted on 9/17/26 to Jason Snyder regarding the railing. (Paperwork was submitted last year as well.)

  • Athletic Facilities – Field Turf and Track- Current fundraiser form circulating with a $20 minimum donation to receive the decal. They are being handed out at games and shared on private social media accounts. Can’t share on the LHS main social pages due to crowd-sourcing restriction in Harrison County policy, which isn’t the same as the state policy. The goal is to raise enough money to take care of the turf and track for ten years. Total cost of the project is $500-750k. Hoping that the spring quotes from the vendors received will be honored still. To just do the turf we are looking at $450-500K. The quote for the track varies due to needing to test the surface and to determine if the base is good. So far, we have 60-70% saved to cover the entire project. The target date of completion would be summer 2027 to be prepared for our 50th anniversary. The current turf is 14 years old.

Motions, Orders, Resolutions, Ordinances and Measures Proposed-Nothing to report.
