On Wednesday, February 11th select 8th grades will take the NAEP. If a student was selected they receive a letter on January 12.
Some information about the NAEP:
NAEP, or the National Assessment of Educational Progress, also known as "The Nation's Report Card," is the largest, ongoing, nationally representative assessment of U.S. student achievement in core subjects like reading and math for grades 4, 8, and 12, providing crucial data to improve education policy and practices for the nation, states, and some districts. Administered by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), it offers insights into what students know and can do, helping to identify strengths and weaknesses in the K-12 system.
Key Aspects of NAEP:
What it Measures:
Student performance in subjects like reading, math, and science, using both literary/informational texts and different question types.
Who Participates:
A representative sample of students from schools across the country, allowing for national, state, and district-level comparisons.
Purpose:
To provide a common measure of student achievement, helping educators, policymakers, and parents understand trends and guide improvements.
How it Works:
Administered by contracted field staff, results are reported by the National Assessment Governing Board (NAGB) through The Nation's Report Card website.
We are confident our students will do their best on the NAEP. Go Wildcats!
