NUTTER FORT, WV – Today, Nutter Fort Primary School held a special event to celebrate a beautiful new mural in the school’s Secret Garden. The mural was created by local artist Bernie Wilkes along with second grade students who took part in an after-school program led by Mrs. Quillin.
The celebration took place on Friday, May 16 at 1:00 PM in the Secret Garden area at the school. Families, students, staff, and community members gathered to admire the artwork and recognize the students’ hard work.
The mural project was made possible by a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) grant awarded to Mrs. Quillin. She used the grant to start an after-school program where students helped design and paint the mural with Mr. Wilkes.
"We are so excited to share this beautiful artwork with our school and community," said Mrs. Quillin. "The students worked hard, and they learned so much through art."
The mural now brings color, creativity, and joy to the Secret Garden, making it an even more special place for learning and growing.
