Reading Choice Board
Complete two activities per ICE Day. Letters can be created on scraps of paper to use. Pictures of student work can be sent via Seesaw or email.
Find the Letter on the ABC Chart
Using the ABC Chart attached, ask the child to point to a letter on the chart. The child will say the letter, the sound, and write the letter.
Name a Word that Begins with a Letter
Using the ABC Chart attached, point to a letter on the chart and have the child tell you something that begins with that letter.
Find a Letter that Begins with that Sound
Using the ABC Chart attached, point to a letter and have the child tell you the sound that the letter makes.
Clapping Syllables
Practice sounding out words using syllables. Walk around your home and ask your child to tell you how many syllables are in the word.
Hearing Rhymes
Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down. Provide two words to the child that are either not rhyming words or are rhyming words. The child will put thumbs up if they are rhyming, thumbs down if they are not.
Write the Alphabet
Make flashcards with pieces of paper with upper and lowercase letters. Have the child write the letter both upper and lowercase with correct letter formation. Completed without a model and in random order.
Write a Sentence with Sight Words
Using the child’s sight words attached, write a sentence with the child writing the sight words, sounding out the other words, and providing punctuation.
Sight Word Writing
Using the child’s sight words attached, practice writing the sight words on paper, in salt, on the sidewalk, or any other method. Look for correct letter formation and spelling.
Decoding Words
Using paper and pencil, have the child sound out three letter words with the pattern CVC, for example (cat). Practice different words while using different beginning, middle, and ending sounds.

Math Choice Board

Practice Counting
Have your child practice counting to 100 by 5s, 10s, and 1s.
Practice counting objects up to 20 in straight lines, boxes, and circle formations.
Number Formation
Practice writing numbers with correct letter formation. You can use the sidewalk, paper, make beans in the shape of numbers, shaving cream, or salt.
Shape Scavenger Hunt
Practice basic shapes and 3D shapes while going through your home to find them. Compare 2D and 3D shapes.
Addition
Using manipulatives you have at home: buttons, beans, cereal, etc. practice addition problems. Work with adding two parts to make a whole. Also practice making ten.
Subtraction
Using manipulatives you have at home: buttons, beans, cereal, etc. practice subtraction problems. Focus on what you begin with, what is taken away, and what is left.
Patterns
Using manipulatives you have at home: buttons, beans, cereal, etc. practice making patterns with your child. Pattern examples include: ABAB, AABB, ABBA, ABCA, etc.
Greater and Less Than
Using manipulatives you have at home: buttons, beans, cereal, etc. prepare piles of materials, have your child count them and determine if the piles are greater than, less than, or equal to.
Place Value
Using scraps of paper, make number cards in the teens and higher. The child will then practice telling you how many tens and how many ones are in the number. (17 has 1 ten and 7 ones)
Measurable Attributes
Walk around your home and compare objects to their length, weight, and height. Practice using words like: longer, smaller, heavier, lighter, taller, shorter.
