The meeting was called to order by chairperson, Karen Petito at 3:00. The Title I and regular sign-in sheets were passed. A motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes from the previous meeting was made by Officer DJ Navarini. Dr Cooper second the motion. Motion carried.
Celebrations!
The staff is seeing academic progress in all grade levels in both reading and math.
Professional development had been scheduled with a consultant for the Bridge to Writing curriculum. There has been training provided for the new Preschool curriculum.
Pre-k has been enjoying their new playground.
Safety Updates
All parties have been completed for this school year.
Playground safety – Teachers were reminded to keep an eye out for people that might come from the woods while on the playground.
As weather improves teachers are asked to watch the gates and to be spread out on the playground to keep students safe.
The new PK playground is being utilized.
Mrs. Burnette is looking to complete grants for new playground equipment for K-2. She is also checking with some local businesses to create partnership with us on the update. The principals are meeting with the playground person on Thursday to discuss a revision.
Bus Loop – The goal for next year is to have no one parking in the loop. Parties are going to be the issue because of the limited parking spaces that are available. A work order has been submitted to have the curb repainted signifying it is a no parking zone.
Gravel has been put into the large potholes with paving to come.
A new Police Chief, Robert Tichenal, has just hired in the Town of Nutter Fort. Chief
Ron Godwin has retired after 41 years of service. Officer DJ Navarini is inviting Chief Tichenal to visit the school to become acquainted with the staff. The two officers are going to collaborate on our safety protocol.
PBIS Updates
The Third 9-Weeks has ended and NFP completed the Celebration of Learning at Alley 304. The third 9-week award assemblies continue to be successful and we plan to continue doing ceremonies each grading period.
The Fourth 9-weeks Friday planning schedule will begin on April 10th. The Fourth 9-week Celebration of Learning will occur May 19 through May 21 at the Bridge with the criteria to attend remaining the same.
PBIS - LEAD trackers still being kept by the classroom teachers. They are to be turned into team leaders weekly.
Upcoming events at NFP
The Lions Club continues to read to students on Tuesdays.
Picture day on Wednesday, April 8th .
PTSO sponsored events: field day for students will be May 27, next PTSO meeting Wed. April 8th, PTSO Teacher Luncheon on May 6th, PTSO ice cream social for students on May 13th.
Eli’s Gotch Ya Day is April 17th the school will have a fund raiser to cover his expenses. The winning class will have a pup cup reward with Eli.
Popcorn possibly ending the last week of April.
Teacher Appreciation is the week of May 4.
Each grade level has many end of the year activities planned such as field trips, field days, graduation, and performances.
Academic Updates
The iReady EOY Benchmark is April 6 through 17.
The writing benchmark and Core Phonics Screener will be due in May.
Students are continuing to show growth through intervention/WIN time.
Strategic Plan for FY26
The three school goals were discussed. ELA – By MOY of 2027, 37% of students will reach grade-level proficiency in reading as measured by i-Ready Inform assessment results.
Math - By MOY of 2027, 30% of students will reach grade-level proficiency in math as measured by i-Ready Inform assessment results.
Attendance – By MOY 2027, 90% of the students will attend 90% of the school. Year’s instructional days as measured by the attendance indicator on ZoomWV-e.
Those in attendance provided feedback concerning parent involvement activities, supporting families, and engaging students. The participants felt the parent involvement activities did support families in their areas of need. The following were suggestions given by the group – have events later in the evening, have make and take sessions, and parent evenings like we have had in previous years. It was explained to the group that materials and stipends for those types of activities were dependent on the budget.
Kudos were given to the Title I team on the writing of the strategic plan and thanking them for the hard work they have done.
