This week, we are excited to spotlight Jordan Stafford, our Communities In Schools (CIS) Site Coordinator!
When asked what he loves most about working at Nutter Fort Primary, Jordan’s answer was simple: “The people.” His favorite part of working with our students is seeing them succeed, and he hopes every child he works with knows one important thing: they are important. Jordan describes Nutter Fort Primary in one word as “unique,” a fitting description of the students, families, and staff who make up our Fort Family.
An important resource for our entire school community
Jordan’s role through Communities In Schools is an important resource for our entire school community. CIS works to remove barriers that may make it harder for a child to learn, attend school, or thrive. As our site coordinator, Jordan can help connect students and families with resources based on their individual needs. Those supports can include food and clothing assistance, counseling and mental health resources, health care connections, academic support and tutoring, transportation assistance, mentoring, family support, and connections to community organizations and services.
A community of support
Sometimes a family simply needs to know where to turn, and that is a major part of what Communities In Schools is designed to provide. CIS brings the school, families, and community partners together so students have support beyond academics alone. The program’s mission is to surround students with a community of support that helps them stay in school and achieve in life.
We are thankful to have Jordan as part of our Fort Family and encourage our families to remember that Communities In Schools is here as a resource for you and your child!
