This week, we are excited to spotlight Mrs. Gwen Shelton, Speech-Language Pathologist at Nutter Fort Primary! Mrs. Shelton loves the fun, positive atmosphere throughout our school and appreciates how our staff truly cares for our students. One of her favorite parts of her work is watching students grow and seeing their faces light up when they learn something new. She hopes every student she works with knows how much she cares about them and wants them to succeed, both in school and in life. She believes communication is an important part of engaging with the people around us and loves helping students build those skills.
Mrs. Shelton describes Nutter Fort Primary in one word: family. She says our staff looks out for one another and is always ready to jump in and lend a helping hand. Professionally, Mrs. Shelton holds an Auditory Training Certificate from UNC Chapel Hill and specializes in working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing and those with cochlear implants. She is also pursuing certification in infant and toddler feeding. Outside of school, Mrs. Shelton stays busy with her children, Reese and Emma, and her stepchildren, Addison and Carter. She enjoys traveling with her husband, Jason, and spending time with their two dogs, Zola, a Labrador Retriever, and Bailey, a Golden Retriever. We are so thankful to have Mrs. Shelton as part of our Fort Family!
