LSIC Meeting Minutes

September 21, 2026 5:00 pm

  • Call Meeting to Order

    • Mrs. Skidmore called the annual organizational meeting to order at 5:05 pm

  • Introductions

    • Mrs. Skidmore led introductions- each member introduced themselves to the group. Sarah Totten, Audrey Louden, Mary Beth Messenger, Jessica Sutton, Nikki Burkhammer, Danny Messenger, Blaine Cook, Cindy Lawrence

  • Reading and Approval of Minutes from final meeting of 25-26 School Year

    • Mrs. Messenger made a motion to accept the minutes. Mr. Messenger seconded it.

  • Nominations for Chairperson

    • Chairperson Nominations: Mr. Messenger nominated Mrs. Messenger, Mr. Cook nominated Mr. Messenger, Mrs. Messenger nominated Mr. Cook.

    • 2 people to assist the Chairperson: Mr. Messenger nominated Mrs. Burkhammer, Mrs. Burkhammer nominated Mrs. Louden.

  • Election of Chairperson

    • Mr. Messenger accepted the nomination for chairperson. The group voted 7 yeas, 0 nays.

    • Mrs. Burkhammer and Mrs. Louden accepted the nomination for assisting the chairperson. The group voted 6 yeas, 0 nays.

  • LSIC Member Training

    • Mrs. Skidmore handed out a folder with handouts relevant to LSIC to each member – rules of order, the SHMS bylaws, state policy references, and handouts. She explained the importance of the LSIC in the current public school climate and explained the responsibilities and powers the group holds. She showed the group a training video from the WVDE.

  • Set Future Dates

    • The next meeting on October 19, 2026, at 5:00 pm will be the annual stakeholder meeting. Mrs. Skidmore will share the balanced scorecard data as well as other data about the school as well as opening the floor to comments and suggestions from stakeholders.

  • Adjournment

    • The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 pm. Mr. Messenger made a motion, and Mrs. Totten seconded it.
