Meeting Notes:

  1. Election – Terms are still in place for members of the LSIC according to Policy 2322

  2. Organizational:

    • Review of Policy 2322 for LSIC including training from WVDE

    • Staff Members: Jerri Hinebaugh, Chrisanne Diaz, Nacole Yost

    • Parent Members: Mabelyn Figueroa, Miranda Watson, Kim Freeland

    • 2 LSIC Members: Sarah Layfield, Vickie Beck

    • 3 At Large Members: Shelia Kovar, Carla Sell- Community; Megan Scroggins – Alley 304

  3. Determining Roles for the LSIC

    1. Select Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and roles

      • Chair – Laura Dick – agenda and lead meetings

      • Vice Chair – Jerri Hinebaugh – reminders and meetings, if Chair is not available

      • Secretary – Nacole Yost – take notes to send to chair

    2. Meeting Dates: All meetings held in the conference room at 2:45pm

  4. LSIC School Wide Positive School Culture, Improvement, Academics, Safety, and Discipline

    • Monthly Staff Meal or Snack Planning – October 13 – Brunch

    • School wide Positive Activities and Parent Volunteer Group and Local Partnerships

      • Parent Volunteer Group – flyer and table at Open House, meeting next week, grandparents are able to help, popcorn – looking for volunteers, Truck or Treat (TBD)

      • Partners in Education

        • Lions Club – vision screening with 3rd grade

        • Kiwanis Club – focus on Kindergarten – Marla Ferree

    • Academics – Title I presentation of the Strategic Plan for Victory (Handout provided) – 4 Goals for the year

      1. Literacy – ELA Target Goal of 38% on Summative Assessment (Homeless population @ 39%, Economically Disadvantaged @ 36%)

      2. Math – Goal Learning Target of 43.8% proficient (Homeless population @ 39% or increase from 23.8%, Economically Disadvantaged @ 38.6%)

      3. Behavior – 90% of students will earn an average of 80% or higher in conduct

      4. Attendance – less than 20% of our students will be chronically absent

    • Greenhouse – We should have all the supplies needed to start fall planting

    • Outside Planters – Kim Freeland brought dirt and will replant in the spring

    • Positive Behavior Supports – Bobcat Bucks, rewards are working great!

    • Attendance – 0 dates of unexcused for 3 days and 5 days

    • Safety –

      • 2 fire drill have been completed, with another planned for the 3rd week

      • Color drill will be held over the next couple of weeks

      • Work order for a crosswalk has been put in

      • Gates and doors have been shut and locked
