Wilsonburg Elementary has a student leadership team called Cougar Congress. This is a hand-selected group of 3-5th grade students who have strong academics and consistent attendance. They exhibit leadership skills as well as positive character. These students help plan rewards as part of our Positive Behavior Support program and serve as leaders to their peers.
This congress implemented a lunchtime cafeteria behavior program where classes can earn letters to spell “Cougars”. Classes can earn extra recess once the entire word is spelled. They have also been trained by our county technology specialist on how to work student ipads and troubleshoot when problems arise so that their peers can come to then when there is an issue.
The congress meets once a month with Mrs. Scroggins who began this student leadership group.
