Principal’s Report
Data review by Mr. Oldaker:
BMS has had a couple positions short-staffed for a while now – the counseling dept, secretary, a special ed aide and a special ed teacher.
Our ratios from counselor to student and secretary to student have shown we are far higher in comparison to other schools in the county.
We were granted a second part-time counselor and a part-time to full-time secretary, added a school PRO, a full-time special ed teacher and a SE aide to the staff in the last couple years together.
Review of student data and our focus on specific subgroups; now offering teacher/student tutoring during AA – going well so far
Good news – our breakfast meal count has significantly increased these first four months – over 10,000 meals up since the beginning of the school year.
On-Site Visit
Dec. 4 we were randomly chosen for a special ed onsite visit from the state department. The official report won’t be in until March, but we believe everything went well.
ISS will change beginning of second semester, Jan. 6, 2025 – ISS will only be in BMS on M, T and W; it will be at BHS on Th and F. This will help alleviate the cross between young middle school students and older high school students sitting in SCC at the same time, and we will have a set schedule week to week.
Restrooms in the Cafeteria
The stalls in both restrooms will be replaced. The materials are in and will be installed in the near future.
Front Marquee Sign
We’ve researched prices. A rep will be sending us a quote, and maintenance needs to check on wiring for the new sign.
Recently had electrical issues/no power to the current sign.
