MES Thankfulness in November

In November, the school is focusing on being Thankful and doing activities that promote Thankfulness. Here are some fun ways to focus on this with your child at home.

Students can practice thankfulness at home through creative activities like making a gratitude jar or thankful tree, where they write things they are grateful for on paper slips. Other options include keeping a gratitude journal, going on a gratitude scavenger hunt, writing thank you notes or letters, and playing gratitude-themed games like the "Skittles gratitude game" or the alphabet gratitude game.

Games and Interactive Activities

  • Gratitude Scavenger Hunt: Create a list for students to find specific items at home, such as "something that makes you smile" or "something you've never noticed before," and reflect on why they are grateful for it. An "alphabet gratitude scavenger hunt" where they find something for each letter is another option.

  • Gratitude Games: Play games that involve gratitude prompts. A "Skittles gratitude game" uses candy to prompt responses, and an "I Spy" or a "Roll and Respond" game can be adapted with gratitude questions written on dice or cards.

  • Jenga Gratitude: Write a gratitude prompt on each Jenga block. When a person removes a block, they answer the question on it.
