Meeting Minutes School Year: 2026–2027

Meeting Date: September 23, 2026

  1. Call to Order: The first LSIC meeting of the 2026–2027 school year was called to order. Members were welcomed, and an overview of the purpose and responsibilities of the Local School Improvement Council was provided.

  2. LSIC Training & Overview Members received an overview/training regarding LSIC, including:

    • The purpose and role of the Local School Improvement Council

    • Member roles and responsibilities

    • Stakeholder roles and the LSIC guide

    • How to conduct an LSIC meeting

    • Ways LSIC can support the school and the school's strategic plan

    • Review of LSIC bylaws

  3. Election of LSIC Officers The following officers were discussed and selected for the 2026–2027 school year:

    • President: Kiersten Ferrari

    • Vice President- Shelly Barnett

    • Secretary: Rosie Linton

    • Faculty Spokesperson: Laurie Gregory

    • PTA Spokesperson: Rosie Linton

    Motions and seconds were recorded during the selection of officers.

  4. Title I Share-Out & School Improvement A Title I share-out was provided, including information related to current school initiatives and student support. Topics discussed included:

    • 3rd Grade Success Act

    • RTI/intervention services, including small-group instruction

    • Skill-level targeted groups

    • Communication of intervention and student-support information

    • The school's strategic plan

    • Providing information through the school newsletter for families who may have questions

  5. Ideas and Initiatives for the 2026–2027 School Year Members discussed several ideas for supporting students, families, classrooms, and the school community. Family & School Activities Ideas included:

    • PTA planning a T-shirt contest

    • Book Bingo

    • Touch-a-Truck event

    • First Responder Appreciation Day

    • Mystery Readers for classrooms

    • PTA coordination of classroom activities or crafts

  6. Community Partnerships & Student Needs The council discussed ways community organizations could assist with identified student and school needs. Potential resources discussed included:

    • Costumes: The Clarksburg Police Department was noted as having helped with costumes in the past.

    • Coats: The Knights of Columbus may donate coats for students.

    • Shoes: The school discussed the need for shoes and the possibility of seeking grants or community assistance. Jenkins was noted as having donated shoes at the end of the previous school year.

    • Continued identification of community partners who may be able to assist with student needs.

  7. Upcoming Meeting Discussion Members identified the following topics for the next LSIC meeting: Bylaws

    • Review the current LSIC bylaws

    • Discuss whether any changes are needed Upcoming Events

    • Continue developing ideas and activities for the 2026–2027 school year

    • Explore opportunities for PTA and community involvement

  8. Community Membership & Outreach The council discussed seeking additional community members to participate in LSIC. A notice may be posted on the PTA page seeking community members interested in serving on LSIC. Members discussed continued outreach to community partners.

  9. LSIC Bylaws The bylaws were shared with members and will also be distributed via email for review.

  10. Upcoming LSIC Meetings The following dates were noted for future meetings:

    November 17, 2026

    February 9, 2027

    May 4, 2027

  11. Action Items / Follow-Up Action Items for next meeting are as follows: Follow-Up LSIC bylaws Distribute to members via email for review, Community membership Post information on PTA page seeking community members. Title I/3rd Grade Success Act, sharing information with families Student interventions, communication regarding RTI. Student needs targeted support groups Student clothing needs, explore community donations and grant opportunities Coats, follow up regarding Knights of Columbus donation Shoes Explore grants/community donations, possible end-of-year donations. School events Continue planning T-shirt contest, Book Bingo, Touch-a-Truck, First Responder Appreciation Day, and Mystery Readers PTA/classroom activities, and PTA to coordinate classroom crafts or activities

  12. Adjournment A motion was made to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded, and the meeting was adjourned.
