Our Halloween Parade and Homeroom Parties will take place on Thursday, October 30. October 30 is a regular school day in terms of arrival and dismissal times; however, parents and guardians can pick up their children midday to go home for eating, dressing, and returning. We will use the information you provided on your student’s submitted Halloween Plan.
Dismissal for students going home to eat and dress will be at 10:35 AM. We will have a mass release, similar to our afternoon dismissal. Pre-K and Kindergarten will exit through the Pre-K/K doors to the right of the flagpole. 2nd and 5th grades will use the main doors. 3rd grade will exit through the side front stairwell. 1st and 4th grades will leave through the glass doors beside the gym.
Students should return in a manner similar to a normal morning arrival. The drop-off lane and parking lot will be open. Students can return between 12:25 PM and 12:50 PM. As a slight change, they will enter through the glass doors by the gym to separate them from parents and guardians coming for the parties.
Party parents can enter through the gym starting at 12:25 PM to sign in. Only those who signed up at the beginning of the year will be allowed in. Name tags will be pre-made from the homeroom teachers’ lists.
If your child is staying at school, they need to bring their costume in a bag labeled with their name that day. Costumes cannot be worn to school. Also, because teachers have multiple students, they cannot do makeup, create special hairstyles, or fulfill similar requests.
If the weather permits, our school-wide parade will begin at 1:00 PM at the Bridgeport High School football field. All classes will make a loop around the track. Parents should watch from the bleachers on either side. A clear path is necessary to get students onto the track before we start. If the parade is canceled, we will notify everyone via our communication system.
If the school-wide parade is canceled, we will switch to Plan B: a 5th-grade-only parade in the gym, with 5th-grade parents and guardians welcome. We cannot accommodate additional family members. 5th-grade parents and guardians will receive their own grade-level message with details.
Finally, some important costume reminders:
A child’s entire face cannot be covered. We must be able to identify the student. Sunglasses, eye masks, and makeup are okay. FULL face coverings are not.
Be cautious with inflatables. If they cover the face, they cannot be worn.
The rule is - we need to recognize the child without removing anything.
No weapons of any kind and no blood. and no blood.
