Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:

Welcome back Simpson families! It is our deep honor and privilege to welcome you to the 2025-2026 school year at Simpson Elementary School. Whether you are seasoned Little Indian or starting your first year, the faculty and staff are thrilled you will be a member of our family. We know this will be a successful and engaging year filled with many opportunities to make memories.

As an introduction for those that may not know us, we have been privileged to serve as your administrative team for the past two school years. We genuinely believe that formulating a positive relationship with parents / guardians is key to ensuring our children have a successful school experience. As a team, with your support, children will be prepared for academic success and have the chance to reach their full potential.

At Simpson Elementary, we are a T.R.I.B.E. and Love Well. This is our mission statement that we take seriously. Our expectations for everyone in the school community are based upon trust, respect, integrity, bravery, and excellence. These attributes and expectations will be taught, modeled consistently, and posted in ALL areas of our building.

We are happy to be a partner with you in supporting your children as they grow.

Our Beliefs

  • Education is a shared responsibility of our staff, families, and the community.

  • School should be a healthy, safe, and positive environment.

  • High Expectations guide students toward their potential of being lifelong learners and productive citizens.

Our Goals

  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment

  • Encourage and promote creativity and critical thinking.

  • Teach children “How” to think, not “What” to think.

  • Support family, community, and school partnerships.

Please take note of these important dates. Open House will be on Thursday, August 14th, for First – Fifth grade, from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. Kindergarten, for parents only, will be from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the cafeteria. Please stop by, meet your child’s teacher, and tour our wonderful school. We look forward to seeing our students and welcoming our newest members to Simpson Elementary School. The first day for grades 1 through 5 is August 18, 2025. Kindergarten begins on Monday, August 25th and Pre-K begins on Tuesday, September 2nd.

Our school opens daily at 7:00 am with breakfast being served until 7:50 am. The students are dismissed from the morning bus room to the classroom at 7:30 am. All students must be in their respective classrooms by 7:50 am, prior to the tardy bell at 7:55 am. If you arrive at school with your child after 7:55 am, you must come to the office to sign-in your child. A tardy slip will be given for entrance to class. It is imperative that your student arrives on time, has had appropriate sleep, and is prepared to participate and learn. If your child is absent, please send an excuse on the first day they return to school. For your convenience, you may also use the online absence excuse form if you prefer to submit electronically.

A few items to keep in mind as we begin the new school year. Dismissal begins at 2:30 pm to maximize our instructional time. We understand this may cause some issues with guardian schedules, but we must adhere to policy to ensure we are meeting required instructional minutes. Additionally, construction is still ongoing to add a multi-purpose room and two classrooms. As we learn timelines and construction completion, you will be notified ASAP. Our goal remains that throughout the school building and during construction, student safety will always remain a priority.

Thank you again for being a valued member of Simpson Elementary School and our community. Working together, we will be able to reach our collective and individual goals. We look forward to celebrating with you the academic achievements of our students.

If we can assist in any capacity or if you have questions or concerns, please contact your administrative team at 304-326-7060. Our doors are always open to our students and families. School information will also be available from your child’s teacher, on the school and PTA social media pages, through texts, and posted on the Harrison County Board of Education website.

Sincerely,

Todd Rubenstein and Jeovanna Comer, Simpson Administration
