Mrs. Mathews thanked everyone for attending and reviewed the purpose of the LSIC, and introduced the members.

Meeting Called to Order
- Mrs. Mathews went over the training packets for the LSIC committee and explained each section. 
- Discussed having larger meeting with the public to engage them with the standing of the school and give multiple outlets the opportunity to ask questions. - At November meeting discuss opportunity for larger meeting with public and more active outreach in the Spring.

Additions to Principal’s Report
- Athletics – Will be hosting the golf regional upcoming, other fall sports looking good as well 
- Curriculum – Financial Aid Information Night by CFWV will be October 27 at 6:00 PM, Academic Awards Ceremony will be December 3 beginning at 8:30

Principal Report
Date: September 23, 2025
- Beginning of the school year we added about 12 “transfers” but enrolled a total of 34 new students before school started, since we have enrolled another 10. We graduated a very large class and had several students withdraw from BHS, so we are still fewer students than last year, total 780. 
- WVDE Smarter Balance Report Card – We are having issues with attendance, especially chronic absences. - Test Scores: - 23-24 Math – Exceeds standards: 21%, Meets Standard: 20% 
- 24-25 Math – Exceeds standards: 22.9%, Meets Standards: 25.6% 
- 23-24 English – Exceeds standards: 30%, Meets Standard: 44% 
- 24-25 English – Exceeds standards: 36%, Meets Standards: 39% 
 
 
- We are still being monitored on the number of approved fundraisers. None of that changed from last year. 
- Discipline - Level - Until 9/23/25 - Level 1 - 35 - Level 2 - 13 (4 days OSS, 2 ISS) - Level 3 - 6 (13 days OSS, 7 ISS), Police notified in 3 of these - Level 4 - 1 (10 days OSS), Police notified 
- Homecoming was last week – we had all our normal festivities trying to center around school spirit. Trying to encourage kids to find a place to belong at BHS. 
- WVEIS grading system – we are moving as fast as we can with updating the system for our parents. The kids have access.
