LSIC Meeting – November 3, 2025 – Secretary Report

Mrs. Mathews thanked everyone for attending and reviewed the purpose of the LSIC, and introduced the members.

Meeting Called to Order

  1. Charlea Ramsey called the meeting to order

  2. Principal’s Report – Mrs. Mathews went over the principal’s report, and new day-to-day items, sporting and academic updates:

    • Reality Check Day from Truist – kids provided very positive feedback

    • CFWV – Great turnout for Financial Aid Info Session

    • Game Changers – Kristina Robinson presented information about Game Changers – Peer-led substance abuse program

    • Weekend Backpack Program – 10 students in total in program

      • Preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas

      • $1500 donation for food and clothing to meet student needs – pantry fully stocked

    • Change Your State – Final week of weekly challenges; students are doing well; could be awarded $1000 for attendance incentives and awards

    • School PlayLittle Mermaid

  3. Athletic Updates – Mr. Sears shared updates and upcoming schedule for Soccer, Football, Volleyball, Cross Country

  4. Academic Updates – Mr. Edwards discussed attendance, academics, upcoming College Board testing, 2nd semester scheduling, and attendance percentages

  5. Teachers & Service Personnel – Mentioned that they were happy and doing well

  6. Parents – Some students are asking about a tracking system for club officers

  7. Students

    • Snowball Dance planned for January 24 (semiformal)

    • Winter Assembly scheduled for December 19

    • Students promoting attendance and participation in school events

Motion to Adjourn: Fred Ware made a motion to end the meeting. Seconded by Mary Plymale.

Principal Report – November 4, 2025

  1. Achievements

    • Competed at golf states – 2 students named All-State

    • First ever state championship in Girls XC; Boys XC were runners-up

    • Students selected for All-State Chamber Choir

    • FFA competed at Nationals and earned Silver as a team

  6. Game Changers Program – School now officially part of the program; training completed on October 29; Mrs. Robinson is the lead educator for BHS

  7. Weekend Backpack Program – 10 students currently receive weekend food bags
