Mrs. Mathews went over LSIC Training for the 26-27 school year.

Mrs. Ramsey called the meeting to order and Mrs. Mathews welcomed everyone back for the new school year, reviewed processes, and moved forward with the meeting.

Principal Report LSIC- Sept 2026

1. US News and Report released the new rankings: BHS #1 in the state and #241(out of 17657) in the nation, putting us at the top 1% in the nation of public school.

2. We are continuing SAT test prep. We started a little earlier this year. Small groups were created with targeted areas of need. Mr. Edwards contacted parents to explain the steps we were taking to help their child meet at least the PROMISE scholarship standards.

3. We had our Alumni and Friends dinner where 3 individuals were inducted into the Hall of Fame. It was a very nice evening and such a lovely time to see the positive impact BHS has from the community.

4. The flooding in the building. There were 9 classrooms that were damaged and 2 stairwells. The new laminate flooring had to be removed due to water retention underneath. We had to have 2 stairwells blocked off due to tiles popping up. The tiles are asbestos tiles and can be harmful if loose and broken up. The county brought in an Federal EPA Inspector that specializes in asbestos to determine the best course of action. The maintenance department came in and epoxied the floor and staff is to monitor for loose tiles. We are waiting for the assessment from the insurance company to determine the next course of action for proper and safe removal following all federal guidelines.
