Robert C. Byrd High School Athletics had a strong 2025-26 school year, with many teams and athletes reaching state, regional, and school history milestones.
In the fall, several teams had big seasons. The cheerleading team made a state tournament appearance. The girls' cross-country team also appeared at the state meet. The football team earned a first-round victory in the state playoffs. Boys soccer, girls soccer, and volleyball each made a regional championship appearance.
Winter sports brought more success for RCB. Boys basketball won the regional championship and made a state tournament appearance. Boys swimming had a historic season, winning the regional championship and the first team state championship in school history. The team also had an individual state champion and multiple relay state championships. Girls swimming made a state meet appearance and had an individual state champion. Wrestling also reached the state meet and had its first individual podium appearance since 2013.
The spring season continued the success. Baseball won the regional championship and made a state tournament appearance. Softball also won the regional championship and appeared in the state tournament. Girls tennis had an individual state tournament appearance. Boys track made a state meet appearance and had an individual state champion. Girls track also made a state meet appearance.
The 2025-26 school year was filled with proud moments for RCB Athletics. From regional titles to state appearances and historic wins, RCB student-athletes represented their school with pride.
