Community

Our schools are stronger when our community is involved. This page shares how families, local businesses, and community members can connect, partner, and support students in Harrison County.

Quick Links

Community involvement plays a vital role in helping our schools grow stronger. Whether you’re volunteering, attending events, or partnering with us, your support helps create better outcomes for students and families.

We work hard to keep community information, events, and opportunities up to date. However, dates, programs, or availability may change.

Please contact the district or your child's school for the latest updates.

This year’s summer reading theme is Level Up at Your Library!

Summer reading 2025 runs from Saturday, June 14 through Friday, July 25. Preregistration for the program begins Monday, June 9 at bplwv.beanstack.org or on the Beanstack Tracker mobile app.

  • You do not need to be a resident of Bridgeport to participate in any Bridgeport Public Library event.

  • You also do not need a library card—but it is highly encouraged! (The library loans books, graphic novels, audiobooks, video games, board games, and more with just a library card!)

  • All library programs are free of charge, and summer reading is open to all ages.

Join us in the back parking lot of the Bridgeport Public Library on Saturday, June 14 from 3-4:30 PM for our Kickoff Party. You will receive a complimentary registration bag just for joining summer reading. Bags will be available at the Kickoff Party as well as at the help desk throughout the duration of summer reading while supplies last. Attendance is not necessary to participate in summer reading.

This year is a team challenge. When you register on Beanstack, you get to choose between Team Fire and Team Ice. The top readers of each team will be recognized at the end of the challenge with a special prize, and we will be tracking each team’s reading progress on the library bulletin board and social media. The more you read and the more events you attend, the more tickets you will earn to put towards special prizes—including Pokémon cards, board games, a Nintendo Switch OLED, and more!

To find out more about our events, please visit bplwv.org/events or call us at 304-842-8248
