Mountaineer Middle School Students holding the stock market game winner banner

CLARKSBURG - Students from Bridgeport High School and Mountaineer Middle School have emerged as top performers in the Spring 2025 West Virginia Stock Market Game™, a statewide financial education competition hosted by the SIFMA Foundation.

Representing Bridgeport High School, seniors Drew Hastman, Caden Herod, and Jordan Kyle secured first place among high schools across the state.

Mountaineer Middle School also earned high honors with two teams taking in the top spots among middle schools statewide. The team of Trey Elsey and Tanner Conch achieved first place, while teammates Avery Stewart and Lily Cumpston earned a strong second-place finish.

The Stock Market Game™ is an innovative educational simulation that challenges students to invest a virtual $100,000 in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Participants research market trends, follow global economic news, and make informed trading decisions over the course of the game.

Educators from both schools praised the program for enhancing student engagement and reinforcing curriculum in math, economics, and financial planning. Through their participation, students gain real-world experience and develop lifelong skills in financial responsibility and strategic thinking.
