SHINNSTON — The Lincoln High School NJROTC Rifle Team has received a $1,406 grant from the National Rifle Association (NRA). This funding will provide the team with two brand new Crosman Challenger air rifles to support their training and competition needs.
The team is preparing to send four cadets to the Area 14 Regional Air Rifle Competition at Camp Perry, Ohio in November. These new rifles will help update older equipment and improve the team's ability to train effectively.
The NJROTC Rifle Team is an after-school activity that runs from September to March. Cadets learn marksmanship and safe firearm handling while taking part in a sport that reflects both national and West Virginia traditions.
