The Publication Authorization section on the WVEIS form lets guardians decide whether or not to give permission for their child’s name and image to be shared by Harrison County Schools (HCS).
As of the date of this article, the statement reads:
“I permit publication of my child’s full name and likeness on HCS approved webpages, printed materials, audio, visual, or electronic means, in accordance with HCS Policy 7540.03. I further understand that I may rescind permission for publication as may be necessary by notifying the school in writing.”
Families can choose Agree or Do Not Agree.
To help you understand what this covers, here’s a breakdown of what may be included, but is not limited to:
Webpages: These include district-approved social media accounts and learning platforms like SeeSaw, along with other websites used to share student work or classroom activities.
Printed materials: This means more than posters or newspapers. It includes yearbooks, newsletters, and other printed school publications.
Audio, visual, or electronic means: This may include videos, school broadcasts, audio and/or video recordings, or digital presentations, as well as news articles.
If you select “Agree,” you are permitting your child’s name and image to appear in all of these approved formats.
If you select “Do Not Agree,” your child will not appear in any of them.
Please note:
You cannot choose only one (for example, just the name or just the photo).
You cannot choose between specific formats (for example, only the yearbook but not social media).
You can change your choice later by putting your request in writing to the school.
