HARRISON COUNTY – Harrison County Schools is proud to share that Bridgeport High School won the second regional competition of the 2026 Academic Showdown, hosted by the West Virginia Department of Education.
The competition was held at Fairmont State University. With this win, Bridgeport High School earned a spot in the state finale on May 1 at the West Virginia Culture Center in Charleston.
Harrison County Schools had three teams compete in the regional event:
Bridgeport High School
Lincoln High School
Robert C. Byrd High School
The Academic Showdown is a fast-paced competition that tests students’ knowledge in many academic and cultural subjects. Teams choose to participate and spend months preparing.
The WVDE and Fairmont State University hosted teams from:
Bridgeport High School
Fairmont Senior High School (will also appear in the finale on May 1)
Grafton High School
Lincoln High School
North Marion High School
Robert C. Byrd High School
