The Harrison County Board of Education held a Special Meeting on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Board Room at 445 West Main Street in Clarksburg. The meeting was streamed on YouTube, but, due to a technical difficulty, audio was not available on the recording until the 2:11:33 mark.
The meeting opened with the call to order and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Three Harrison County Board of Education members took the Oath of Office. Frank Devono Jr., Mary Frances Smith, and William T. Tucker each took the oath for service on the Board. The oaths were administered by Christopher McCarthy, Circuit Court Judge of Harrison County. There was no audio during this part of the video.
The Board then considered new business related to workers’ compensation coverage. The Board approved renewing Encova Insurance Company for workers’ compensation coverage for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
Following New Business, the Board entered executive session to discuss the superintendent’s annual evaluation. The executive session began at about the 13:00 mark of the video. The Board returned to regular session at about the 2:11:33 mark.
After returning from Executive Session, the Board shared its public statement on the evaluation. The Board stated that the Board of Education and the superintendent met to review and discuss the results of the annual evaluation. Following deliberation, both parties reached an agreement that the superintendent meets expectations. The Board also stated that both parties identified areas of focus that will continue to be developed and addressed going forward.
Board members then shared closing comments. Members offered congratulations to the board members who took the oath of office and spoke about continuing to work together for students and staff in Harrison County Schools.
The meeting ended with a motion to adjourn. The motion carried, and the meeting was adjourned.
