Public Notice: 21st CCLC Grant Application

Harrison County Schools intends to submit a Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) grant application to the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE).

If funded, this grant will support after-school programming at Liberty Middle School for a period of five years.

In accordance with federal requirements (Section 4204(b)(2)(L)), the completed application and any waiver request will be available for public review following submission.

This morning at Liberty Middle School, a student reported that another student had a gun. School staff acted right away and searched the student. The situation was handled within a minute. No gun was found.

This morning at 11:44 a.m. a 911 call was placed reporting a threat to Mountaineer Elementary School. Thanks to the swift action, emergency responders reported within minutes and secured the facility and deemed the threat non-credible. Liberty Middle School and Mountaineer Elementary were both locked down and at no time were any students or staff at risk.
