The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) is a nonprofit organization that was founded by teachers, for teachers, to establish standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do. The National Board believes that higher standards for teachers means better learning for students. We are proud to have 2 more teachers join the 46 certified teachers in Harrison County! We have become aware of a prank call to the police about an active shooter at Robert C. Byrd High School. Law enforcement agencies have cleared the building and have determined it to be a non-credible threat. At no time was the health and safety of the students and staff compromised.

This week we celebrate National School Psychology Week. “Together We Shine” is this year’s theme as a way of hope after the last few challenging years through the pandemic, social injustice, economic strains, and mental/physical health. This week and every week, our team of school psychologists will work to promote positive change in all areas of leadership in the counseling room, the classroom, the community, and beyond.
