Mrs. Gregory’s first grade class at Adamston Elementary learned all about polar bears and how they adapt and survive in the artic. Students designed their own polar bear dens. They had to plan how they would use their materials, possible problems they might have, and how to solve them. Finally they built their dens with toothpicks and marshmallows. They had to make sure their polar bear could fit in the den and that it was sturdy and would not fall. Afterwards, students reflected on their design to determine if it worked, didn’t work, and what they would have changed.
