Harrison County Elementary teachers spent 3 days actively participating in the WVDE Invest Conference in Morgantown. They have had training in math, science, ELA and physical activity to increase student achievement. They will return to their schools with resources to share with their co-workers.

Today marks the first of two exciting days of informational sessions at the STEAM Center, with principals from all our schools coming together for valuable discussions! 🌟 Superintendent Dora Stutler kicked off the day, and then the session was handed over to the United Way. This morning's highlight was Attorney Howard Seufer from Bowles Rice, LLP, who shared insights on the latest legislation and developments in education law affecting our schools.

June 19 is Freedom Day also known as Juneteenth. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. This holiday is considered the longest-running African-American holiday and has been called America's second Independence Day. It was on June 19, 1865, that Union soldiers, led by Union General Gordon Arrived in Galveston, Texas to inform the enslaved African Americans of their freedom. In 2021, Juneteenth officially became a federal holiday.
